Camp Manager

 

As the Camp Manager, you’re the torch of camp life—ensuring every detail runs smoothly, safely, and to the highest standard. Your role touches every part of the operation, from food service to facility maintenance and team leadership.

Site & Facility Oversight

  • Lead all aspects of site operations including camp setup and takedown, equipment maintenance, consumables, safety, and administration.

  • Ensure all equipment and facilities are clean, safe, and operating efficiently.

Kitchen & Commissary Management

  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring meals are delivered on time and meet food safety (HACCP) and portion standards.

  • Work closely with the Chef on menu planning, inventory, and budgeting.

  • Ensure commissary operations (where applicable) are efficient and well-stocked.

Leadership & Team Coordination

  • Host daily meetings with department leads to align on staffing, scheduling, and client needs.

  • Supervise and support kitchen and housing staff—train, coach, and mentor as needed.

  • Conduct employee evaluations and manage performance to maintain a motivated and effective team.

Safety & Compliance

  • Foster a strong safety culture and ensure all team members follow hygiene, PPE, and provincial safety standards.

  • Lead daily toolbox meetings and ensure safety documentation is completed and submitted promptly.

  • Act as the site’s Health & Safety delegate when needed, including managing incident reports and investigations.

Client & Communication Liaison

  • Act as the key point of contact between the client, site staff, and Torch Industries Ltd.

  • Address client concerns promptly and professionally while maintaining service excellence.

  • Keep communication open and clear with Head Office on all site matters.

Reporting & Administration

  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of reports: daily site reports, inventory, meal logs, safety records, P&Ls, and more.

  • Monitor and manage site budgets, inventory levels, and labor costs.

Performance & Quality Control

  • Understand and meet KPIs for each contract and position.

  • Maintain high standards across food, service, and facility operations.

Ongoing Collaboration

  • Regularly meet with Torch Industries leadership for performance reviews and operational planning.

  • Help set and achieve company goals while keeping the site running at peak performance.

Schedule: This is a 4 weeks on 2 weeks off or 2 weeks on 2 weeks off position

  • 10 hour shift
  • Overtime

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Edmonton, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Education:

  • Secondary School
  • Minimum of 3 years experience managing and leading staff (Remote Camp Experience is preferred)
