  • Service is a promise that cannot be seen, touched, or felt through any of our external senses.

    Jag Randhawa
  • Eating, and hospitality in general, is a communion, and any meal worth attending by yourself is improved by the multiples of those with whom it is shared.

    Jesse Browner
  • Am I tough? Am I strong? Am I hard-core? Absolutely. Did I whimper with pathetic delight when I sank my teeth into my hot fried-chicken sandwich? You betcha.

    James Patterson
  • Tomatoes and oregano make it Italian; wine and tarragon make it French. Sour cream makes it Russian; lemon and cinnamon make it Greek. Soy sauce makes it Chinese; garlic makes it good.

    Alice May Brock
  • I hate people who are not serious about meals. It is so shallow of them.

    Oscar Wilde
  • The shared meal elevates eating from a mechanical process of fueling the body to a ritual of family and community, from the mere animal biology to an act of culture.

    Michael Pollan
  • I think preparing food and feeding people brings nourishment not only to our bodies but to our spirits. Feeding people is a way of loving them, in the same way that feeding ourselves is a way of honoring our own createdness and fragility.

    Shauna Niequist
  • The secret of good cooking is, first, having a love of it... If you’re convinced that cooking is drudgery, you’re never going to be good at it, and you might as well warm up something frozen.

    James Beard
  • How would your life be different if...You were conscious about the food you ate, the people you surround yourself with, and the media you watch, listen to, or read? Let today be the day...You pay attention to what you feed your mind, your body, and your life. Create a nourishing environment conducive to your growth and well-being today.

    Steve Maraboli
  • If you can eat with mates or friends or family, I mean, it's such a brilliant thing isn't it? If you feel really rubbish and you have a nice bit of food it makes you feel good, you know?

    Jamie Oliver
